Awful Spanish Pop Music.-

On this first delivery i made a research about some spanish glamourous folk-singers of the 70’ an early 80’s who wears awful looks and haircuts and sings about social and underworld themes. If you’re ready can start the tour!

EL FARY is the most succesul spanish-folk-protest singer. His first hit records was LA MANDANGA (The Hash) a polemic song about the joy of soft-drugs in 70’s Discotecas. He gots many number ones and good chartings in twenty years of career with beautiful tunes like OJOS SIN LUZ (Eyes without light), COMO UN GIGANTE (Like A Rolling Stone) and the unforgettable and surrealistic VAYA TORITO! (What a Little Bull!). He starts his carrer singing for his firts job’s clients; he was a cab driver. One of this clients was Ava Gardner, who gets very hot and makes love with wilderness and rage to the spanish cute driver-crooner.-


The Troncos.-

Be careful with LOS TRONCOS; this couple was the most dangerours under-age criminals of the spanish democratic transition. Car and shop lifters from the six years old, they writes and release many unsucessful and forgotten songs. His criminal past was a handicap for his musical career and they were forced to fall again in the hell of the prisons, the drugs, bank robberys and male prostitution in the CASA DE CAMPO of Madrid. They usely sings and plays in his gigs with a guitar in one hand, and a plastic bag with industrial glue in the other one. One of THE TRONCOS died tragically because a overdose of jaco (horse) and the other one was a notorius cover of NATIONAL GEOGRAFIC MAGAZINE.-

RICHARD (in spanish gipsy language you must pronunce RIIIICHAL) was a strong influence for RODDY MACDOWELL’S play of Cornelius in THE PLANET OF THE APES classic Sci-Fi film. RICHARD, hidden behind a polyester wig, mixed up the flamenco, the rumba and the mersey beat in his compositions with very awful and pathetic consequencies. But i admire and like his silly tunes (and his silly wig), very much, i confess.

TONY EL GITANO really wears a cute and typical spanish haircut. A redeemed drug dealer and car lifter his one and only hit record was “MALDITA DROGA” (Bloody Drugs) a dramatical call up to the spanish youth to say NO TO DRUGS!!! Nobody hears this call up and the 70% of the generation who dance this funny song falls into the unmercy claws of the JACO (horse or heroine) and the FARLOPA (farlope or cocaine). This was a bloody case of good intentions and very bad luck!!!

A weird and bizzarismic example of aristocratic south spanish crooner. PORRINA DE BADAJOZ, the Marquis of PORRINA, built his glamourous looking with strong infuences of the british Glam Rock (Bowie, Jobriath, Wizzard...), american-european white trash (Lliberace, New York Dolls, Polnareff, Heino...) and european 30’s decade politics (Il Duce, Goebbels, Millán Astray...). He was a real aristocratic “señorito” and his cool sun glasses doesn’t was a customized glammy disguise... He is really blind as a bat... But you can’t say he is not a real cool & strange handicapped!!!!
